Our warmest congratulations to Professor Aditi Lahiri on winning her 5th major European Research Council (ERC) award, creating a new Oxford record of three ERC Advanced Investigator Grants.
This award is for a study of the principle of Pertinacity. Although languages change over time, this project will explore the idea that phonology is pertinacious and changes in existing phonological systems are strictly limited. Her research work will include psycholinguistic and neurolinguistic experiments and further development of a novel approach to computational speech recognition.
